Infiniti has just taken the wraps off its latest logo, adding a 3D effect and a cleaner take on the emblem's "infinite road" design. This is nice and all, but what the brand truly needs is a new car––it's a car manufacturer, after all. A dying one at that. Save for the recently redesigned QX60 SUV, Infiniti's entire lineup is aged beyond competence to direct rivals Lexus and Acura. The trend-setting FX coupe crossover has been gone for years, and next went the Q70 flagship sedan, and then the Q60 coupe. It seems that every model is on a conveyor belt inching in the direction of the company's slow death, with each model dying one by one. Who knows––maybe the Q50 sedan is next. Then Infiniti will turn into another Buick, an irrelevant brand with a lineup of nothing but dreary crossovers dressed up to evoke an artificial sense of "luxury."

But let's not take this too far. Infiniti isn't quite dead yet, and maybe that refreshed logo is a sign of what's to come. A new QX80 is on the way, and being the company's flagship, it could either make or break Infiniti. We dream of a completely new lineup that's truly ready to take on the likes of Lexus, far from being rebadged Nissans. A range of Japanese luxury vehicles that harken back to what Infiniti once was. The brand is still young, after all. It shouldn't be too hard to reach back into its past.

We know there's a redesigned QX80 coming, and SUVs definitely sell. But to truly be a successful brand, to bring back a new age that will be remembered like those old days, there needs to be some excitement too––even if it doesn't return record sales. Let SUVs like the QX80 and QX60 do the heavy lifting. So on that note, here's some advice to help you truly save yourself, Infiniti.

First of all, bring back the Q60 name before it shrivels up forever, and share components with the latest Nissan Z. That's what you always did, but it never worked because you let it sit there, its cabin caving in from the weight of its age. The same goes for the Q50 sedan. All it really needs is a new interior and refreshed styling. But do it in an inspiring way, and don't just consolidate that ancient dual-screen setup into a single touchscreen. Heck, turn it into a four-door Q60, use those same Nissan Z parts, and you have a true sports sedan. And do it before those rapidly declining sales numbers eat into development budgets. That's death to an automaker.

Of course, you must look to the future too. You even told us your new logo represents your focus on the future, your mission to turn to "new horizons." Following that infinite road to the future will require some form of electrification, and your mainstream cousin Nissan already has it. The Ariya crossover would be the perfect foundation for an Infiniti EV. People love crossovers, and the Ariya's sloped roofline fits the bill for something that harkens back to the days of your first sporty SUVs. Nissan already has a dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain somewhere in its parts bin. Use it and tune it up to set it apart. Make it a faster, noticeably more luxurious take on the Ariya until the Nissan underneath becomes invisible.

Obviously, we're not the heads of a luxury automaker like yourself, so there's a possibility you know something we don't. Maybe we don't know that there's a new Q50 waiting for us, an FX revival in the books. But no matter what the future brings, we have faith in you, Infiniti, because you've done great things in the past. While recent years have admittedly been stale, we know you can do great things again.
