2025 Scout SUV

Volkswagen is reviving the Scout nameplate for a rugged new EV sub-brand, starting with a boxy SUV that's set to be unveiled this summer ahead of its 2025 market launch. A pickup version is expected to follow it later, and production of both models will take place at VW's new Scout factory in the United States. Volkswagen promises that its new Scout lineup will be plenty capable off the tarmac, and with competitive pricing to boot. The former will be achieved with an exclusive platform developed chiefly for off-road performance, and range is expected to exceed 400 miles. The Scout SUV will compete with the Rivian R1S and Mercedes's forthcoming EQG at launch, but it'll likely be joined by battery-powered versions of the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler in the future.
