It's no secret that Volkswagen is planning an all-electric successor to the Golf hatchback, which will likely go by the ID.2 name. And of course, this can't be a true Golf replacement without a GTI performance variant. Luckily for us, Volkswagen has that in the cards as well. Inspired largely by the ID. GTI concept shown above, it will likely continue to be the only new Golf variant available in the U.S. While we don't know much about it just yet, the GTI EV is set to arrive in 2026, following the arrival of the regular ID.2 in European markets.
