Mustang customers interested in a matte look will now be able to get one straight from the factory, as Ford has announced a new matte clear film that's available as a $5,995 option for all 2024 Mustang coupes. Convertible variants will also be able to get the factory-applied film starting this fall.
While this film is compatible with any 2024 Mustang model, buyers who choose this option can't have the GT California Special appearance package, nor can they opt for any of the graphics packages offered for the sports car. In addition, adding this film to the Dark Horse will delete its black hood stripe.
Aside from removing the shine to create a sleek matte effect, the PPG film also protects the paint underneath. According to Ford, the paint will be shielded from road salt, those inevitable bird droppings, and strong chemicals from car washes.
Coming standard with the film is a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty, which matches up with the Mustang's default limited warranty. Deliveries of coupes equipped with the option will begin this June, while convertibles won't begin offering the film until this fall.
