While the latest Lexus RX has been on sale for just about a year now, the automaker has now released details on the 450h+ plug-in hybrid model arriving later this year. Lexus says it will start at $70,080 with destination fees included, which makes it the priciest RX model by far.
The RX's new plug-in hybrid powertrain is the same one found in the smaller NX. It pairs a 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack, enabling an all-wheel drive setup that produces 304 horsepower and launches the crossover from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds. The RX 450h+ is also capable of traveling up to 35 miles in electric-only mode, and takes around two and a half hours to fully recharge using the 6.6 kW onboard charger with a 240V outlet.

The plug-in RX features 21-inch dark metallic wheels, though the rest of the exterior remains unchanged. Inside, there are heated and ventilated seats consisting of perforated semi-aniline leather, along with a large 14-inch infotainment system, head-up display, thematic ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic glass roof. The leather cabin is accentuated by either Ash Bamboo or Black Open Pore wood trim.
The RX 450h+ is also equipped with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, while options include Traffic Jam Assist, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system, and an Advanced Park feature with Remote Park.
The plug-in hybrid RX arrives later this year, joining the luxury crossover's trim lineup for the 2024 model year.
Would you choose the plug-in hybrid RX over the regular hybrid model?
