Chevrolet, plus every other GM brand, is now fully committed to EVs. Cadillac will make the Lyriq and Celestiq (and apparently Symboliq, Optic, etc.), GMC will introduce the Hummer SUT/SUV, Buick will eventually make an EV, and Chevrolet will take the lead with the Silverado EV, Bolt EV, and now, Bolt EUV.
The Bolt EV has been around since 2017, but for 2021, it will receive a sharp facelift, along with the first-ever Bolt EUV crossover. It will be more subtle than the funky Bolt hatchback, and will also go against and Tesla, Nissan and many more brands to come. (Bolt EUV stands for 'Electric Utility Vehicle'.) The refreshed Bolt will ride on GM's BEV2 platform, rather than their new Ultium battery. Chevy claims it will start production next summer, so a reveal could be right around the corner.
The Bolt will also be the first Chevy to use Cadillac's well-known Super Cruise self-driving system. The EUV will be based on the Buick Velite 7 that was recently unveiled (it won't make it to the US).
So, if you son't care for the futuristic styling from Tesla's Model Y and Nissan's Ariya, the Bolt EUV is the way to go.
