Alfa Romeo fans here in North America are currently bemoaning the loss of the brand's highly-esteemed Quadrifoglio models, as the company has announced that the hotter variants of both the Giulia and Stelvio will no longer be available on our side of the Atlantic after production ends in June.
Larry Dominique, senior vice president for Alfa Romeo North America, took to LinkedIn announcing the unfortunate news, urging any interested buyers to make an order as soon as possible. "Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio performance models bid farwell [sic] to North America, for now," Dominique wrote. "This is the final chance to own a Quadrifoglio with only combustion engine technology as we continue our metamorphosis to an electrified future, but this is not the end of the story."
"The opportunity to order a 2024 Giulia Quadrifoglio or Stelvio Quadrifoglio will close to North America at the end of April 2024," he continued. "The last internal only combustion powered Quadrifoglio models for U.S. and Canada will exit the Cassino plant in June 2024."
Dominique's statement makes it clear that Alfa has some sort of electrified Quadrifoglio model in the works, and previous reports have indicated that the next-generation Giulia sedan will arrive in 2025 with a fully-electric powertrain. It will very likely mark the return of the Quadrifoglio here on our shores, and that model is said to produce a staggering 986 hp.
As for today's gas-powered Quadrifoglio variants, their departure is the end of an era. Both are powered by a 2.9 liter V6 engine from Ferrari, delivering a total of 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. While they are not by any means the last Alfas to wear the four-leafed clover badge, they are certainly the last to feature a fully gas-powered engine.
Production of the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio will come to a halt for North America in June 2024, after order books close permanently this April. While you'll still be able to get your hands on the four-cylinder versions well after 2024, the regular Alfa models are simply not the same.
