Chevrolet has struck the Camaro with the chopping block once again, and while the nameplate will return eventually, the next iteration likely won't have an engine.
The news was first confirmed by GM to Motortrend. The magazine was told that the final Camaro left the assembly line earlier this month on December 14, 2023, in the form of a V8-powered, six-speed-manual-equipped ZL1 with the track-oriented 1LE package. The exterior of the sports car was finished in Summit White.
While there are no photos of the final build, the ZL1/1LE is among the most powerful Camaro specs ever made. Under its hood sits GM's legendary LT4 engine, a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 that produced 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque in the Camaro. While the engine will still be fitted into Cadillac's CT4-V Blackwing sedan (it also once powered the C7 Corvette Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V), the final Camaro-bound LT4 was built in November 2023.
Chevrolet didn't specify whether the last Camaro will find its way to dealer lots, or if it's headed to the company's legacy collection. We would guess the latter, as final build numbers being handed over to customers is a rare occasion.
