10 Best Car Spotting Locations In The World

For us car enthusiasts, seeing a classic Mustang or shiny McLaren 720S is exciting. Not only do these cars look good, but they sound good too. However, it's most likely that you won't find these exotic machines on any old street. There are places across the globe where Bugattis and Bentleys abound, but you have to look closely to find these petrolhead paradises. Grab your camera and your passport as we take you to the world's ten best car spotting locations.

1. London, England

London is an exotic car hotspot, especially in the Camden and Knightsbridge districts. For the best car spotting experience, stop by London's five-star hotels like the Dorchester, where the parking lots are filled with Bentley Continentals and Mercedes-AMG G63s. You can also visit the Harrods department store on Brompton Road, where London's wealthy population runs their errands. We recommend visiting the city in the summer, which is when the affluent Middle Easterners flock to their summer homes to escape the extreme heat. Most of them bring their supercars with them.

2. Dubai, UAE

What used to be a barren desert is now a bustling city, and while the pretty architecture and tropical palm trees are definitely some of Dubai's biggest highlights, this Middle Eastern city is also very wealthy. The city is known for its huge collection of supercars and luxury cruisers, and you won't leave this place without seeing at least one Bugatti. Other common sightings include an assortment of Porsches, Bentleys, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Toyota Land Cruisers. Even Dubai's police force is full of exotics.

3. Doha, Qatar

Doha is another extremely wealthy city in the Middle East. In fact, Qatar is one of the world's richest countries. This man-made metropolis is full of striking skyscrapers, state-of-the-art tech, and, you guessed it, amazing cars. Maseratis GranTurismos, McLaren P1s, Rolls-Royce Cullinans, and Ferrari LaFerraris rule the streets here. For a little more car-related fun outside of Doha, you can go drifting on the dunes in a Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol.

4. Los Angeles, California, USA

Famous celebrities and Bel Air mansions aside, LA is a key spot for exotic car hunting. A great place for supercar spotting would be Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, which is lined with high-end shops and their affluent clientele. Wealthy coastal towns like Malibu and Santa Monica are also dotted with Ferraris and other exotics, and twisty backroads along the Pacific like the Angeles Crest Highway serve as great places for drivers to have fun with their cars. You might get tired of seeing Mercedes G-Wagens everywhere, but you'll also see a variety of Rolls-Royces, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and McLarens.

5. Monaco

Monaco, the tiny European country nestled between Italy and Spain, is known for hosting the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 races. In fact, the country's twisty streets transform into a race track every May. But Monaco's car culture doesn't stop there. One in every three of this Mediterranean country's small population is a millionaire, so there is no doubt that you'll see Bugattis, Ferraris, Paganis, and other exclusive supercars all over the place. Hotel parking lots are filled with Porsche 911 Targas and Lamborghini Huracans, and surrounding city streets are home to countless McLarens, Aston Martins, and BMWs. Monaco is seriously a car enthusiast's dream, because why wouldn't you want to visit a city with supercars on every corner?

6. Nürburgring, Germany

Germany's Nürburgring is a popular tourist destination, especially for motorsport fans. But when a Grand Prix race isn't happening, the track is open to the public. Sure, there are countless Porsche 718s, Audi R8s, and BMW M2s, but there's more. First of all, the Nordschliefe serves as a proving ground for pretty much every German automaker, as it's practically in Volkswagen Group's backyard. Hyundai, Genesis, Land Rover, and Jaguar also send their prototypes zipping around this track. On the other hand, the general public tends to bring out its rarest and most unusual cars to the Nürburgring as well. You'll find just about anything tackling the corners and straightaways, from the Koenigsegg Agera to the BMW 2002, or even a coach bus.

7. Tokyo, Japan

Japan's capital city has endless attractions, but Tokyo also has a very unique car culture. We're talking about the Subaru WRX STI, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Nissan Z, and the iconic kei car. If you're lucky enough, you'll spot one of the city's richer citizens taking their supercars out for a ride. You might also spot a few JDM cars, such as the Toyota Century and Honda S660. One of the best places to find these one-of-a-kind rides is the Aoyama district, which connects several other wealthy neighborhoods like Marunouchi, Ginza, and Omotesando. JDM fans will prefer the Akihabara area, which is filled with amazing vehicles that you will only find in Japan.

8. Paris, France

Paris is famous for lots of reasons, but one would rarely think that Lamborghinis like the Huracan shown above prowl its streets. Truth be told, they do, which is why the City of Lights is on this list. The coolest voitures can be found during the summer, especially in wealthier neighborhoods like the 8th and 16th arrondissements. You may be surprised that the Arc de Triomphe is known as a popular car spotting location, mostly because supercars tend to come in from various avenues. Also make sure to swing by those expensive hotels, including Four Seasons George V, Shangri-La, and Le Royal Moncheau, as well as the fancy clothing stores on Avenue George V. Amusez-vous!

9. Miami, Florida, USA

The bright and colorful city of Miami is yet another car spotting destination, and you'll find yourself surrounded by McLarens and Bentleys, as long as you find the right places. The wealthy areas like Key Biscayne will deliver, especially around hotels and retailers. Most of the coolest cars are usually found on the street, though.

10. Detroit, Michigan, USA

If hunting down prototypes is more of your thing, American ones in particular, then the Detroit area is the place to be. Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Dodge are all headquartered near the Motor City, and surrounding neighborhoods are usually where they test their upcoming vehicles. If you want to see cars that aren't covered in camo, then we recommend checking out the Woodward Dream Cruise, where tons of interesting and unique cars cruise down Woodward Avenue.

Have you ever been car spotting in one of these places?
