2020 Hyundai Sonata Review

Hyundai has created an outstanding family sedan with cutting-edge technology and design, all starting at just $23,600. Some amazing new technology features is how the car backs out or parks all by itself, just at the push of a button on the key fob. This incredibly smart feature takes a huge leap above technology standards, and is something that only a Tesla could do until now. Hyundai premiered a Super Bowl commercial starring that feature, saying that it is 'Wicked Smaht', which is very true. Even the lowest trim level, the SE, has unique styling that, personally, is nicer than the Limited trim, with silver chrome that sweeps past the front end, separating the upper and lower grilles. This design element is standard with the upcoming Sonata Hybrid as well.

Also, an amazing design element that attracted many visitors at the Philly Auto Show is how the headlight sweeps up the hood, integrating with the silver chrome that circles around the windows, coming back to the side mirror. At the show, various people noticed how cool the headlights were. This new Sonata is nothing like its predecessors, and it really deserves something. The connecting taillights and lower coupe profile also break through the boring style of previous generations. The striking design literally turns heads. At such a great price, this sedan is worth it. We have seen a new Sonata drive by once, and its design made us want it. That is Hyundai's trick to attract buyers. Also, Hyundai's main idea in this redesign is to bring an emotional and personal connection with the owner. This is evidence that Hyundai is not giving up on sedans, and is trying to bring back popularity. It si a very smart idea to keep the sedans within the lineup and make them extremely unique, noticeable, within price range, and stylish rather than kicking sedans out of the lineup.

The dramatic exterior design is not all, though. The interior holds even more beauty, space, and technology. The touchscreen is smarter than ever. Also, every tech feature needed in a car nowadays is included in this new sedan. All the switches, buttons, and the touchscreen are slightly tilted towards the driver, making things easier to maneuver while driving. The steering wheel has stylish silver chrome to keep the design exciting. There is black trim polished around the 8 inch touchscreen, adding modern elements and making it look bigger. Also, the touchscreen sticks out of the dashboard, making things easier to find. The software is up to date, and runs smoothly, with cool effects and easy to find apps. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available. You may notice that there is no gearshift handle. Instead, it is buttons, which is a common sight in vehicles for the 2021 model year.

The new Sonata is also made safer with better, more reliable features such as collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, lane centering, and rear cross traffic warning with rear emergency braking. That long list of safety features is another reason why the Sonata sits above the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Nissan Altima. For people who want more speed in this stylish sedan, the Sonata N is perfect for you. But, is is not available yet, so wait a few months for that. A separate review for the Sonata N is coming soon.

Below are the key features for the Sonata.

- Engine: 1.6 Liter 4 cylinder or a 2.5 Liter 4 cylinder

- Horsepower: 180 to 191 hp

- 0-60 mph: 8.2 seconds

- Price: From $23,600

- Length: 192.9" (About 5 inches smaller than the VW Atlas!)

- Seating: 5 people

The Sonata is also very roomy, with plenty of legroom and comfort. The Sonata does not have a huge hump on the ground in the backseat like most sedans do. That is another victory for the Sonata, since we found the middle rear seat legroom a problem in competitors like the VW Passat and the Audi A4.

If you are strongly interested in the incredible, class-leading, and all-around smart Sonata, see the Sonata on the Hyundai website or see your local Hyundai dealer. In conclusion, the Sonata is the best-in-class winner.
