The current Ford Edge has been around since 2014, and while a big refresh kept it new in 2019, we'll see more changes in 2021. The biggest update is the new 12" touchscreen, which is standard on all models. It includes Ford's new Sync 4A software from the Explorer, F-150, and Mach E, replacing the old Sync 3.
The new infotainment system brings new features like split-screen content, built-in navigation with cloud connectivity, wireless Apple CarPly and Android Auto, and updated voice recognition. The new Edge also receives wireless phone charging and two additional charging ports for rear passengers. Sync 4A also has over-the-air updates, so the Edge will always keep up with the latest features and software. In addition, the 2021 Edge's new split-screen feature allows drivers to divide content into smaller windows, making for less tapping on the screen to, for example, change the radio station while in the navigation system.
Small upgrades come to the exterior as well, such as new 18-inch wheels for the SE trim level, 21-inch black gloss wheels on the ST trim level, a new ST-Line trim for those who want the looks of the ST but not the performance, and new chrome details on the front fascia and side bumper. All engines will carry over, and tweaked pricing will be announced soon.
