The Kia Sorento used to be Kia's only offering for large families, until the bigger Telluride came along. So, the Sorento is taking it up a notch for 2021 by completely revamping its image as a family SUV. Because of the Telluride, the only third-row option is six seats. Also, Kia is introducing the X-Line off-road trim level with the Sorento X-Line. Besides that, the crossover has been given a very attractive new design. It features the refreshed tiger grille seen on the Sedona and K5, and the wheelbase is longer, freeing up legroom. It is also 3.1 percent lighter than before.

The new Sorento offers four new engines: a 2.5 liter four-cylinder, along with a turbocharged version, a 1.6 liter hybrid four-cylinder, and later on, a PHEV variant will be available. All wheel drive is available on all Sorentos except for the front wheel drive-only hybrid. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard on most engines. The Sorento's trim levels include LX, S, EX, SX, SX Prestige, SX Prestige AWD, and X-Line. The off-road geared X Line features 20-inch wheels, a one-inch increase in ride height, AWD, downhill descent control, and central lock differentials.

The interior is as luxurious as ever, featuring wood and satin touches, leather seats with a quilt pattern, a digital instrument cluster (which is new for Kia SUVs), a 10.25" touchscreen, a Bose premium sound system, and wireless device charging. Technology and safety features are endless, such as surround-view monitor, Kia Drive Wise, cyclist detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and smart cruise control connected to the navigation system that can lower the vehicle's speed in the case of a sharp turn all by itself. We love the way this new Sorento looks. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it should surface soon because the SUV is coming to dealers this winter.
