The Gotthard Pass, located in the Swiss Alps, is a wonderful place to drive through, but not right now. A $4 million crash (yes, $4 million) occurred a few days ago. It involves a Bugatti Chiron, Porsche 911 Cabriolet, Mercedes C-Class wagon, and a motorhome. A Bugatti Chiron costs about $3 million brand new, and the motorhome, Porsche and Mercedes added up another $1 million.
On this mountain road, the slow-moving motorhome was clogging up traffic, so the Bugatti and Porsche decided to pass the lineup at the same time, causing the performance vehicles to collide. The Porsche bumped the rear of the Mercedes, while the Bugatti crashed into the motorhome. Considering the fact that these vehicles could have slid off the mountain, this was a quite fortunate crash. The Mercedes driver was the only person to suffer injury.
As you can see, the Porsche experienced the most damage, with the whole front fascia ruined. The Bugatti and Mercedes suffered quite minor damage, with the Bugatti's headlights and grille smashed and the Mercedes' rear bumper almost torn off. The motorhome wasn't shown in these images. The Bugatti and Porsche both had the airbags deployed. This was a sad crash for all of these drivers.
