Alfa Romeo To Launch New ICE-Powered Sports Car Next Year

Before Alfa goes fully electric in 2027, a limited-production, gas-powered sports car is set to arrive as early as next year. The new two-seater will commemorate the brand's history of building legendary internal-combustion cars, and will be inspired by icons such as the 33 Stradale.

Speaking to Auto Express, Alfa Romeo boss Jean-Phillipe Imparato confirmed the new model. "Alfa is sportiness. You will see something sporty in the first half of 2023." He went on to describe the sports car as "a very exciting one, very expensive, very selective."

Auto Express suggests that the upcoming Alfa will be mid-engined with a carbon fiber chassis. It could utilize an updated version of the 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 used in the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

When asked about how the new sports car could look, Imparato said, "I'm not the only one to love Alfa's past. After 'sportiness' you add 'Italian' and 'red' and you have the positioning of an Alfa Romeo. It's simple. Easy to execute." He promised that there will be more details on this new sports car in November.

This sports car won't be the last new ICE Alfa, however, as the company has some more limited-edition models in the works. "If the question is are you working on some very specific, high-level offers, the answer is yes."
