Bentley's Beyond100 Strategy is the British marque's path to electrification, and a new announcement reveals that five new EVs will arrive each year starting in 2025. Dubbed the Five-In-Five plan, this billion-dollar project should help Bentley reach its goal of being "the benchmark manufacturer in sustainable luxury mobility."
Bentley says their first EV will be fully developed at the company's Crewe, England facility. Before the first electric vehicle rolls off the assembly line, Bentley wants to transform the facility into a Dream Factory, or a "digital, zero environmental impact" site, in order to "secure Bentley's future at Crewe for the next generation of products and colleagues." Bentley has already gotten started on revamping the facility, with a certified carbon neutral engineering site already in place. The company also says it already achieved sustainable production back in 2019. The next step is increased energy production at the plant, which should bring Bentley's solar panels up from 30,000 to 40,000. Overall, this part of the strategy will help Bentley accomplish its additional goal of becoming a fully carbon-neutral establishment by 2030. Bentley is also encouraging its suppliers and retailers to accomplish carbon neutrality in the coming years.
As for the actual cars, hybrid powertrains will begin Bentley's EV offensive. The Bentley Flying Spur PHEV should arrive sometime this year, joining the existing Bentayga PHEV in the lineup. These hybrids are expected to make up about 20% of sales throughout this year. Elsewhere, Bentley is looking into biofuels to power fleet cars and future Heritage Edition vehicles. Bentley hasn't said much about fully electric vehicles, but we do know that five of them are being developed. The first will arrive in 2025, with the others being revealed every other year. We expect them to be inspired by the EXP 100 GT Concept shown in 2019.
