Yes, you heard that right. BMW’s legendary M2 and M2 CS performance coupes will be gone in Europe by next year. Why? Europe is getting g serious about vehicle emissions, and has now set restrictions, affecting automakers here and there. Ford struggled with its Focus ST and RS in Europe, currently their only market. Porsche is rushing to get a fitting engine for the 911 sports car to keep themselves within regulations. BMW already was forced to get rid of the M3 and M4 in Europe. This is a tragedy for car enthusiasts all over Europe.
The M2 is also set to expire here in the US until the next generation arrives for the 2022 model year.
This is bad news for Europe, but hopefully BMW can make EV or hybrid versions of their M Performance models in order to sell them there.
