Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison Adds Even More Capability To American Truck

After the off-road oriented ZR2 trim debuted on the facelifted 2022 Chevy Silverado, an even more capable version has arrived in collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles. AEV recently debuted a similar project with GMC and its Sierra AT4X.

The Bison was made to deliver better off-roading performance than the standard ZR2, with increased approach and departure angles of 32.5 and 23.4 degrees, respectively. Ground clearance hasn't changed, with the truck sitting 11.2 inches above the ground. Better off-road protection comes in the form of powdered and e-coated stamped steel bumpers, as well as five press-hardened steel underbody skid plates. The rocker panel protectors are also made of steel. The ZR2 Bison rides on 18-inch AEV wheels wrapped in huge 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.

This special edition comes standard with a 6.2 liter V8 engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of pulling power. Other hardware upgrades include new Multimatic 4-millimeter DSSV dampers, retuned springs for better suspension travel in the front and rear, Terrain Mode with one-pedal rock crawling capability, and front and rear e-lockers.

The ZR2 Bison also brings some styling upgrades, like a paint-color grille bar, exclusive ZR2 badges, and a black matte finish on the Multi-Flex tailgate. There is also a decal on the side outer box that reads 'Bison,' as well as AEV badges on the headrests and all-weather floor liners.

The Chevrolet ZR2 Bison will begin production early next year, carrying a hefty price tag of $78,490.
