After Chevrolet discontinued almost all of its passenger cars, it left the Sonic, Malibu, Spark and Camaro with uncertain futures (the Corvette is here to stay). Now, Chevrolet has announced the that both the Sonic sedan and hatchback versions are goners. The Malibu sedan is set to end production in 2023, and the Camaro and Spark are still up in the air.

The Sonic, being introduced in 2012, has experienced a facelift and declining sales in recent years, which leaves a reason to discontinue it. Ford’s Fusion sedan, however, is a top seller, even though it is being axed in 11 days as of this writing. The Sonic is definitely a unique car with an affordable price tag, making it a great car for teenagers.

The Sonic has no direct replacement, but we’ll consider the 2021 Trailblazer compact crossover as its indirect successor.
