Could The Chevy Silverado Be Catching Up With Ford?

Writer: TurbochargedTurbocharged

Ford is revolutionizing the pickup segment with their new 2021 F-150. Ram has been considered a luxury brand lately, and GMC is ahead of the game in innovation with their new MultiPro tailgate feature. Where does Chevy stand in this competition? That's exactly what the company is thinking about.

The Silverado was redesigned in 2019 after a long, successful previous generation. Now, the Silverado has fallen down a bit, and Chevy is trying to get it back up there. A prototype was spotted recently with a tailgate similar to GMC's MultiPro. According to Motor1, Chevy will adopt this feature and call it MultiFlex. Ford will do the same. The Silverado also has a very outdated interior. Especially when Ram and Ford have the biggest touch-screens ever seen in a pickup. The exterior will also get a touch-up.

Engines will likely stay the same, along with colors, trim, and options, since this is just a minor facelift. One thing that could change, though is its reputation. With Ram's TRX taking the lead as the world's most powerful pickup, and Ford chasing right after it with the Raptor, Chevy is missing out big-time. GM recently hinted at more off-road focused vehicles, and Chevy and GMC are obvious targets for these plans. The Silverado could add a rugged Bison trim, along with more unheard of variants.

Towing, technology and engines will change rapidly, and there's probably more coming that we don't know. The Silverado has a lot of room for improvement, and that room is about to be stuffed.
