DeLorean Alpha5 Makes Public Appearance At Pebble Beach

The reborn DeLorean Alpha5 has made its first public appearance on the lawns of Pebble Beach, showing off its gullwing doors and bright red paint. The four-seat EV will also be displayed on the Concept Lawn at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday.

The DeLorean Alpha5 concept was styled by Italdesign, wearing a two-door body style with seating for four. The gullwing doors are quite large, as the Alpha5 sits on a very long wheelbase. DeLorean says that the production version will have an all-wheel drive setup, capable of reaching 60 miles per hour in only 2.99 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph. It will use a 100-kWh battery with a range of up to 300 miles.

The Alpha5 will be a very exclusive ride, since DeLorean only plans to build 88 units. This number pays tribute to the original '80s classic Back to the Future, where the original DeLorean traveled through time at a speed of 88 miles per hour.

The production model won't arrive until 2024, but for now, the Alpha5 concept will be showcased at Pebble Beach throughout the weekend.

Do you think the Alpha5 lives up to its name?
