The Audi Q5 luxury crossover was recently given a facelift, and prototypes of a coupe version have been spotted on the road numerous times. Now, the BMW X4/Mercedes GLC Coupe rival has been unveiled. The exterior has slight differences, including a sloping roof, 21" wheels, a fancier rear bumper, and a sportier front fascia. Audi claims that the taillights are lit by customizable OLEDs, rather than LEDs.
Even though the Sportback is slightly longer than the standard Q5, cargo capacity is reduced by 5 cubic feet, a common issue with coupe crossovers. The tablet-style infotainment screen seen in some Audi's is fading away, making way for more luxurious designs. But, the 2021 Q5, along with the Q5 Sportback, keep that design for now. A 12.3" screen is optional. The infotainment system runs on Audi's responsive MIB 3 software. Active safety technology includes adaptive cruise control, cross-traffic assist, and more.
In Europe, engines include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel, a four-cylinder TDI, a V6 TDI, two TFSI gas variants, and a HEV variant. America is likely to receive most of these powertrains. A performance-geared SQ5 Sportback is coming soon. The Sportback will go on sale worldwide in Q1 2021. Pricing isn't confirmed yet, but it should be more expensive than the Q5 SUV, if it follows the lead of the E-Tron Sportback and Q8.
