The Ford Maverick is a big hit for being a truck that can haul like an F-150, but with a driving experience more akin to the Escape. But for those who plan on treating this small ute like its larger siblings, Ford brings us the Maverick Tremor, which adds off-road upgrades that allow for more work off the pavement.
The Maverick joins the Ranger, F-150, and Super Duty in offering the Tremor package, making it Ford's entry-level option for this off-road oriented variant. The Tremor package is available with the XLT and Lariat trims for an extra $2,995, which means it comes equipped with the 2.0 liter EcoBoost turbo-four. You won't be getting as much fuel efficiency out of the Tremor than you would in other trims, but it does offer more power than the Maverick's standard hybrid powertrain.
In terms of off-road capability, the suspension has been tweaked to fit newer front and rear springs and shocks, and ride height has been raised by one inch. Ford also added stronger half-shafts and a heavy-duty transmission cooler.
The Maverick Tremor also comes with Trail Control, which is essentially an off-road version of cruise control. When a certain speed is selected, the vehicle controls the throttle and braking to allow the driver to focus on maneuvering through terrains like dirt or mud.
This package also brings more squared-off looks, including blacked-out lights and badges, an exclusive grille design, and two front tow hooks in an orange finish. The revised front fascia has a more assertive approach angle, and there are more durable steel skid plates on the front bumper. The Tremor rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels in anodized dark gray anodized with orange accents, which are wrapped in all-terrain tires for improved traction.
The interior carries on the Tremor's signature orange and black theme, with black onyx seating and orange contrast stitching. The orange accents have also been applied to the center console, air vents, door handles, and Tremor badges.
Opting for the Tremor Appreance Package adds more off-road style, with or without the off-road chops. The roof and mirror caps are painted in Carbonized Gray, while the hood and lower bumpers feature black side graphics.
When order books open in September, the Tremor package will cost an additional $2,995, while the Tremor Appearance Package will be priced at $1,495.
Would you choose the Tremor package or a base Maverick with the hybrid powertrain?
