Ford Still Has To Decide Name For Mustang's New Black Accent Package

Back in June, Ford asked enthusiasts to suggest a name for the Mustang's upcoming Black Accent Package. Fast forward to August, and the Blue Oval still hasn't settled on a name for the new package. This is despite the brand's recent trademark applications for the name 'Mustang Dark Horse.'

"There were too many good name submissions for the Mustang Black Accent Package (thank you!), so we need your help again," Ford said through its Mustang Twitter account. The brand broke it down to four finalists, which include Nite Pony, Shadow Stallion, Alastor, and Shadowmare. Dark Horse would've been much better, though.

No matter which name Ford ends up choosing, the automaker should do it quickly. The all-new, seventh-generation Mustang is slated to debut on September 14th at the Detroit Auto Show, and wouldn't it be a bit awkward to introduce a new package for the sixth-gen model around that time?

Ford provided a few teaser images earlier in the summer depicting plenty of black accents, including darkened pony badges, black wheels, and smoked lights. This new Black Accent Package will most likely be the last hurrah for the sixth-generation 'Stang, which debuted back in 2014.

Which name are you rooting for?
