General Motors Is Preparing A Parade Of Off-Road Vehicles

Ford's Bronco is out to kill Jeep. Jeep's Wrangler is out to kill Ford. Where's GM? We thought they missed out big-time with their performance-geared Blazer and city-built Trailblazer, but it looks like we're about to see a ton of off-roaders being spewed out of GM factories rather soon. We know the GMC Hummer is coming, and Chevrolet has some rock-crawlers coming, too. "We look at each brand, and we look to build our off-road offerings in GMC, as well as Chevrolet. And when you look to Hummer, you'll see true capability there, as well," stated CEO Mary Barra. She thinks it's very important to expand the amount of offerings they have, meaning that Ford and FCA better watch out.

GM didn't reveal any further details about the future models, but we have some ideas.

Chevrolet's Colorado ZR2 and ZR2 Bison, along with the Tahoe/Suburban Z71 are all they have for now, but GM could have an off-road version of the Silverado pickup in the works. It'll compete with the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram Rebel TRX. Ram's offering will pack 707 hp, surpassing the Raptor's mere 450. But, GM's offering will beat them both by far with the Hummer's 1,000 horsepower.

Also, we could see an off-road Equinox or Blazer to take on the Jeep Cherokee and Ford Bronco Sport. Also, we hope GM turns things up a notch with off-road versions of the Traverse SUV and Trailblazer crossover. Also, GMC's AT4 lineup is underway, including the Sierra and Canyon pickups and Terrain, Acadia and Yukon SUVs.

We cannot wait to see what GM does with their off-road plans.
