The Genesis X Speedium Coupe concept car previews where the brand is headed in the electric age, especially in terms of design. This sophisticated grand tourer was revealed at Genesis House New York, which is the brand's immersive showroom that focuses on the luxury automaker's Korean culture.

The Genesis X Speedium is an elongated version of last year's Genesis X two-door concept, with a slightly revised take on the X's "freestyle" design direction. The distinct Two Lines headlights curve to make an illuminated outline of Genesis' crest grille, which is no longer necessary on an EV. This design element serves as an evolution of the brand's already recognizable styling, adapted for the electric era. The rest of the car takes on what Genesis calls a "less is more" approach, with minimal lines and curves that come together to create subtle elegance. From the side, you'll easily spot the Two Lines window trim, which continues the same theme as what is seen up front. The X Speedium Coupe also features a fastback-style roofline, which ends at the rearmost edge of the vehicle. A small decklid spoiler interrupts this soft silhouette and gives a much sportier impression. At the rear, the Two Lines taillights conclude the character line that seems to stretch across the vehicle, and curve out towards the wheels.

Genesis didn't just add the word "speedium" to make the car sound sporty. This concept's cool name is inspired by a racetrack located in the Korean city of Inje, where designers took inspiration for the X Speedium Coupe's suave design. In fact, the mountains that surround the city inspired the vehicle's unique green paint job, called Inje Green.

It will be exciting to see what comes out of Genesis's design firm in the future, but we're also hoping that all of these electric sports car concepts are hinting at the brand's first true performance vehicle. But in the mean time, we have the Genesis X Speedium Coupe to stare at.
