GM is bringing Hummer back with a cool electric pickup. It will, surprisingly wear a GMC badge, and teasers show an electric, but Jeep-like, front end. GM claims an incredible 1,000 horsepower, and 0-60 miles per hour in an outstanding 3 seconds, plus 11,500 lb-ft of torque. It will be previewed with the teaser below and five short commercials, along with a reveal at the Super Bowl with LeBron James. It will likely have a simple name: GMC Hummer. GMC also boasts 'zero emissions, zero limits.'
It will officially arrive at dealers in fall of 2021. Hummers will never be the same again. From gas guzzling army machine, to silent, electric, clean pickup made by GMC. Although this is exciting news, the future of this vehicle may hold huge safety hazards for pedestrians. Pedestrian collisions are more common with electric vehicles because they are silent. If you see an electric car cruising down the street, listen carefully. You'll notice that the noise is very slight. People are not always aware that a vehicle is coming near, especially if it is quiet. And, if you saw the short ads for this vehicle, (click here) their main goal is heavy horsepower and speed, with no sound. Pedestrians, beware. Imagine a gigantic, heavy truck speeding out of its parking spot at almost 60 miles per hour, if it takes more than three seconds to back out, and you are walking by, not noticing the silent, huge truck that is about to knock you down. Sure there is technology in new cars, like back-up cameras and sensors, but they are not something to fully rely on. After all that, let's end on a happy note. The new Hummer will hopefully be an exciting new car, and will change the way people look at Hummers forever. We will update you on the reveal very soon!
The Hummer is coming this May.
