Hyundai isn't discontinuing sedans like Ford and GM, but they're coming out with new crossovers just like the other two automakers. As if the Venue wasn't small enough, an even tinier crossover is debuting soon, and it will be called the Bayon.
But, this new crossover is named after Bayonne, France, and is "primarily a European product." That could mean that the Bayon is not for the US. That makes sense, since the Venue isn't sold in Europe. The Kona is currently Europe's smallest crossover offering.
Hyundai stated with the announcement that it is "strongly established in the European SUV market already, in terms of our model range as well as our sales success. By launching a new, additional B-segment (subcompact in the US) model as the entry point into our SUV line-up, we see a great opportunity to cover European customers' demand even better and to increase our offering in a highly popular segment."
The teaser image at thew top of this page shows the vehicle's slim taillights and the 'Bayon' emblem. It is also wrapped in a nice teal exterior color. We also know that the Bayon will share its platform with Europe's i20 hatchback, and that it might receive the N, if not N Line treatment. This new crossover may not be for the US, but it is still another crossover to sit at the bottom of the SUV spectrum.
