Introducing The Nissan Z Proto

Nissan has ambitious plans to fix up the brand after many years of distress. The Nissan Z Proto previews the car that will change our view on Nissan's sports cars. This concept car previews the 2023 400Z. As you can see, the whole car pays tribute to the 50 year history of Nissan Z.

Starting with design, the headlights, silhouette and emblem relate to the legendary 240Z, while the taillights represent the 300ZX. Other small elements remind us of the 350Z and 370Z. The Z Proto's proportions are slightly adjusted; the car is now five inches longer, 0.2 inches lower, and 0.2 inches wider. The interior is all-new, featuring a futuristic 12.3 inch infotainment setup. Yellow accents, as well as "vintage Z touches", are spread throughout the cabin.

The engine bay houses a twin-turbo V6 with a classic six-speed manual. For those who prefer the convenience of automatic transmission, not to worry; an automatic is in development for the 400Z. Horsepower wasn't mentioned, but expect around 400 horses, since the Z car's number before 'Z' usually represents the horsepower.

The Z Proto really represents Nissan's exciting future. Mike Colleran, senior vice president of Nissan US Marketing and Sales, said,"Z Proto is our loudest statement yet that Nissan will continue to bring vehicles that thrill to US showrooms." For the next two years, Nissan will be revamping and introducing models that make an important statement: Nissan is back. The 400Z will debut in 2023 and compete with the Ford Mustang, Toyota GR86, Subaru BRZ, and Chevrolet Camaro.
