Kia's New EV6 GT Is Capable Of Outrunning Supercars

The Kia EV6 has gained a new performance variant at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering that averages a 0-60 sprint of 3.4 seconds. The Korean automaker even claims that the EV beat a Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD in a race.

The EV6 GT makes 576 horsepower with a dual-motor setup, sending power to all four wheels. The front and rear motors are paired with a 77.4-kWh battery, creating a torque output of 546 lb-ft. Additional upgrades include a new sport suspension, electronically controlled dampers, and an electronic limited slip differential. The GT also benefits from larger brake discs inside the 21-inch wheels, which are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Charging is just as impressive as the performance, reaching 80 percent in less than 18 minutes with a 350-kW charger. The EV6 GT also supports up to 800-volt fast charging.

Styling has changed slightly to differentiate the GT from standard EV6 models. The tweaked front and rear fascias are said to highlight the car's width. There is also a new rear spoiler, as well as a rear diffuser to direct air flow. New 21-inch alloy wheels feature GT-specific neon green brake calipers.

The neon green theme is even more evident inside, with subtle trim details and green piping on the front bucket seats. These performance-oriented seats feature embossed GT badges and deep bolsters. There are also striped accents on the upper dashboard and front center armrest. There is also ambient lighting on the dashboard, door panels, and center console.

The EV6 GT will be available in the fourth quarter of this year, though Kia won't announce pricing until closer to launch.
