Lexus Will Try To Take Over Competition With The 2022 LQ

Lexus is preparing a new LQ flagship SUV that will replace the aging LX. It will be lower and longer, with a more traditional shape. It will look nothing like the LX. The LQ will better compete with the Mercedes GLS, BMW X7 and Audi Q7. It will be priced from about $80,000 to almost $100,000. The LF-1 Limitless is our best look yet.

This could have all new styling since the IS, ES, NX and RX are due for redesigns around the same time. The concept has an electric powertrain, which could carry over to the LQ. Car and Driver predicts the it will run on a 450kW twin-turbo V8 powertrain.

The long taillights, interior, and spindle grille will likely be in the production model, and the long, coupe-like roofline should definitely exist on the LQ.

In a few years, if you are looking for a large off-road ready SUV, the smaller GX will be your only choice.
