The sinister Stealth appearance package isn't all Lucid has in store for Monterey Car Week. After previewing another new Air variant ahead of its August 19th debut, Lucid has dropped another hint, but this time it's much more revealing. Using the hashtag 'BlueMeansGo,' the EV maker released a short clip showing a trio of mechanical parts. "Three is a magic number," Lucid said in a social media post. "See why at The Quail."

Rumors regarding a sportier tri-motor Air have been circulating since late 2020, when Lucid showed us a prototype testing its quarter mile time. This week's teasers have all but confirmed the arrival of this new performance variant, which could give the Tesla Model S Plaid a run for its money. It appears that the tri-motor version will wear a subtle aero kit and updated lighting features, but not much else.

The components shown in the video might be the rumored "Megawatt" dual-motor rear axle, accounting for an incredible 1,341 horsepower. There will also be a third front-mounted motor to make a total output of 1,609 hp. That's over one hundred horses more than the Bugatti Chiron. That said, this Air could be capable of beating the Tesla Plaid to 60 miles per hour with a 0-60 time of less than two seconds.
The most powerful Air yet will be fully unveiled at The Quail on August 19th, with deliveries starting sometime next year.
Do you think this Lucid will be able to defeat Tesla's Model S Plaid?
