Maserati Makes A Comeback With The 2021 MC20 Supercar

Maserati hasn't had a supercar in its lineup for almost 15 years, and the failing company is ready for a change. The new MC20 (Maserati Corse/Racing 2020) supercar is a spiritual successor to the legendary MC12, and will be offered as a coupe or convertible, as well as internal-combustion engine and EV variants. It will start at around $200,000.

The MC20 marks a milestone for the brand, as their plan for 10 new or redesigned models by 2023 unfolds with this vehicle. The car is built upon on a Dallara carbon-fiber tub that also underpins performance models from Alfa Romeo and Bugatti. The bodywork is based on a similar material. The two engine options are ICE or EV. The gasoline variant carries Maserati's 3.0 liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6. It produces 621 horsepower and carries a top speed of 202 miles per hour. This sleek supercar carries an updated version of Maserati's current design language with upgraded headlight and taillight patterns, along with Maserati's new logo.

The MC20, with its competitive performance and price, will compete in a never-ending segment consisting of the Ferrari F8 Tributo, Lamborghini Huracan, Aston Martin DBS Superlegga, Ford GT, McLaren 720S, Chevrolet C8 Corvette, Acura NSX, Audi R8, Mercedes-AMG GT, and more. Expect it sometime next year.

Besides the MC20, Maserati has teased the new long-awaited, redesigned GranTurismo sports coupe. It is set to arrive in 2021. Following it is the new Grecale crossover that will slot below the Levante. Sharing underpinnings with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, it should be Maserati's most successful new model. Although the 2021 Ghibli Hybrid has just arrived, the compact sedan is being dropped within the next few years. The Quattroporte flagship sedan remains for now, bringing a light refresh for 2021. We can't wait to see what Maserati plans to do next.
