Towards the end of last year, Maserati confirmed that they are working o a luxury crossover that will slot below the Levante SUV. This compact crossover is called the Grecale, and Maserati has released several "spy shots" of the upcoming model.

Maserati said that the Grecale is currently being tested on rough road surfaces, race tracks, and off-road terrain. These tests will help Maserati ensure the vehicle's performance and stats for when it is revealed. Maserati is planning on building the Grecale at their Cassino factory, which will soon undergo a major renovation.

The teaser images show that the Grecale will adopt some styling elements from the Levante and other Maserati cars, but we also see that the compact crossover will mostly have its own unique design. No performance specs have been released, as the Grecale is still being developed, but we can assume that it could have Alfa Romeo underpinnings, leading to a range of V6 engines.

On the other hand, keep in mind that Maserati is planning on offering hybrid and electric variants of all of their models by 2025, so the Grecale could either offer a separate hybrid variant, or electrify all of the powertrain options. Maserati has confirmed that the reveal will happen before the end of this year, so we won't be waiting for too long.
