Mazda CX-3 Won't Be For Sale In America In 2022

The Mazda CX-3 came out in 2016 as the brand’s smallest crossover. But, it might have been too small, as it was always basically a hatchback. But ever since the much newer CX-30 came out last year, we all knew the CX-3 was a goner. Well, that day has come, and not as a surprise.

The Mazda CX-3 will join the Mazda6 midsize sedan in 2022 in leaving the US, but it will be discontinued in America for good, unlike the 6. For the past year, the Mazda CX-3 hasn’t been worth it, being only $1,250 cheaper than the CX-30, which is larger, and packed with Mazda’s latest technology and powerful engines. Who would pass up a deal like that? The CX-30 is the exact reason that the CX-3 had a dismal 2020 sales year, with just 8,330 examples leaving dealers. Even in 2016, just around 18,000 CX-3’s found owners. Mazda just couldn’t keep both subcompact crossovers in its lineup, and it has always been obvious that the CX-3 was the one to go.
