Next-Gen Chevrolet Trax And Buick Encore Coming This Year

Last month, we reported that the Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore would be discontinued by the end of this year. Slow sales and more relevant competitors seemed to be mark the end of the two crossovers, though GM never confirmed the news. In fact, it turns out that the Trax and Encore are not going away, according to a few spokespersons.

A Chevrolet spokesperson recently spoke to Roadshow, saying that we will see "an all-new Trax later this year." Reports indicate that the redesigned Trax is expected to enter production somewhere within the first half of 2023, after the outgoing version ends production "in late 2022." Nothing also is known about the next Trax, but Chevy will have to separate it from the Trailblazer somehow.

After hearing about the Trax's bright future, journalists spoke to Buick concerning the mechanically related Encore. Luckily, the Trax's premium counterpart will also see a next generation, with a company spokesperson stating that "Buick will continue to offer four distinct SUVs in the U.S. and Canada going forward." Details on the 2023 Encore are also scarce, but it should launch around the same time as the Trax.

The Buick Encore and Chevrolet Trax have been spared, despite the existence of the newer Encore GX and Trailblazer. The second-generation crossovers will be revealed later this year, and it is possible that electrification will appear somewhere in these new SUVs.

Are you glad to see the Trax and Encore live on?
