Next-Gen Ford Mustang To Debut At Detroit Auto Show In September

The seventh-generation Ford Mustang is just around the corner, with development of the redesigned muscle car entering its final stages. A recent rumor suggested that the big reveal would be taking place at the North American International Detroit Auto Show, and it didn't take long for Ford to confirm the news.

Ford CEO Jim Farley revealed in a Twitter post that the 2024 Mustang will be officially unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show on September 14. "It's a stunning car and I'm excited to share it with the world," he said. Farley also added a #savethemanuals hashtag, confirming that the Mustang will still offer a six-speed manual, so purists should be pleased.

The next Mustang will also be keeping the outgoing generation's 5.0 liter V8 engine under the hood, and the entry-level EcoBoost 2.3 liter four-cylinder is also being carried over. That said, output should stay close to the current numbers. Rumors have also indicated that hybrid variants will arrive later on, meaning that all-wheel drive setup could be introduced to the Mustang lineup for the first time ever.

The 2022 North American International Detroit Auto Show will mark the event's return after a long hiatus. The new show will feature indoor and outdoor venues in Huntington Place and around downtown Detroit. As the countdown to September 14 begins, stay tuned for more Mustang news and rumors in the coming weeks.
