The RX is one of Lexus's best-selling models, but astronomical sales numbers can't hide this luxury crossover's age. Outdated tech, an infuriating touchpad controller, and a laid back driving character also hold the RX back from being a great midsize SUV. Fortunately, these problems could soon become history with a redesigned RX on the way.

Styling changes appear evolutionary, with some small adjustments to make the RX look fresher and get more in line with the newer Lexus SUVs. Redesigned headlights feature slimmer DRLs, which are positioned higher than before. The widened spindle grille gains a cleaner mesh design, and teasers indicate that it might be frameless. We don't get a peek inside, but we do know that Lexus's more intuitive Interface infotainment will replace the old (and very annoying) touchpad system.

We don't expect the 2023 RX to grow much with the three-row RXL around, though Lexus might be planning a replacement called the TX. If this is true, it would allow the RX to focus on a more specific type of consumer. An extended version of a two-row SUV doesn't make a very spacious third row, either.
Lexus will reveal its redesigned RX on Tuesday, May 31, at 8pm ET.
Are you excited for the new RX, or is this just another boring SUV?
