Nissan Announces Further Plans For The Future

Nissan has a big restructuring plan that is going to last until at least 2025. Nissan wants to reorganize 70% of its lineup. This whole thing will take a while, but now we know more about what they are doing, and they aren't holding anything back.

First off, the facelifts: according to the Nissan Next video, we know that the Navara, Terra, Kicks, and Armada will be tweaked for 2021 and 2022. But, now we know that the Altima and Versa are being refreshed in 2022, along with the Sentra and possibly Rogue in 2024. Redesigns are also major. We know that the Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport/Qashqaui and Note (AKA Versa Note) are being redesigned around 2021. Nissan announced that the Maxima will morph into an IM Concept-inspired EV sport sedan in 2022, and the Murano and Frontier are being overhauled around that same time frame. The new GT-R is arriving in 2023. We haven't heard much about the Titan. The Sentra, Kicks, Armada, Navara, Terra, and Altima should see redesigns in 2025 or later.

Now to the brand-new models. The already-revealed Ariya is pulling onto dealer lots as late as mid-2021, and an India-specific compact crossover called the Magnite is coming around that time, too. We know about the 400Z (2021) and its Nismo counterpart (2022). A first-ever Frontier Nismo is coming at some point. Nissan has also hinted at a Pathfinder-sized D-segment EUV to join the Ariya and LEAF in the EV game.

Not only is Nissan flipping over the whole lineup, but it is also looking to cost costs by discontinuing a few models. First up is the NV and smaller NV200 vans. Yes, Nissan is abandoning both the van and taxi segments. Also being discontinued is the Maxima, although we're not sure whether its successor will be called 'Maxima' or not. Europe's Micra hatchback is being axed, as well as their Datsun brand that left the US long ago. Another semi-surprise is the fact that the Versa won't see another generation after the current one, meaning a discontinuation is expected in 2025 or later. We are also going to list models that could be at risk, since we haven't heard much about them: Juke, Sentra Nismo, LEAF.

We are highly anticipating all of these ambitious plans!
