As the new Nissan Z prepares for its impending US launch, Nissan has revealed their next race car, the Z GT500. It was developed under Nissan's NISMO performance division, and signals the brand's entry into the Super GT Series race.

The Nissan Z GT500 will begin racing at the 2022 season of the Super GT Series, which will take place from April 16 to November 6 next year. Entering the Z GT500 into the race returns the iconic sports car to its racing heritage, which began with the legendary S30 240Z in the 1970's.
"We are entering the the 2022 Super GT Series with our all-new Nissan Z GT500 car and out huge passion for motorsports. We hope that our fans will continue to passionately support the Nissan and NISMO motorsport teams," said Takao Katagiri, President and CEO of NISMO.

The Nissan Z GT500 features major modifications, in order to bring the best performance and aerodynamics. This includes extremely wide front and rear fenders, a large rear wing, and a much lower stance. No technical specifications have been provided from Nissan, but we're sure that there is a much more powerful engine under the hood than what you'd find in a regular Z.
Will you be rooting for the Z GT500 next year?
