Polestar has announced that its third model, aptly named the 3, will make its official debut on October 12. We've already seen a few glimpses of the all-electric crossover, which will use a dual-motor layout generating up to 380 kW (510 hp) of power. The full unveiling will be hosted by Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath at a special event in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Polestar 3 will be the automaker's first SUV model ever, displaying a major emphasis on performance. It will share its platform with the next-generation Volvo XC90, and will also use the midsize crossover's all-new advanced driving systems. But according to Polestar, being a performance crossover doesn't just translate to straight-line speed, so the 3 will offer a standard dual-chamber air suspension with adaptive dampers, which also enables the driver to select between either sport or comfort modes.
The launch model will feature a rear-biased dual-motor powertrain with electric torque vectoring on the rear motor via a dual-clutch system. There will also be an optional Performance Pack that will deliver a max output of 510 horsepower and 671 lb-ft of torque, as well as some fancy gold design touches inside and out.
Are you pumped up for Polestar's first SUV, or do crossovers simply bore you?
