The quickest iteration of the 911, the GT3 RS, has made its debut at The Quail, and it offers a new US-specific package that looks back to the first RS model that started it all. The Tribute to Carrera RS Package adds styling details that resemble the Carrera RS 2.7, as the RS line celebrates its 50th birthday.
The package features white non-metallic exterior paint with Python Green accents, just like the original. A white-and-green theme is seen throughout the car, with a white side air vent, green forged aluminum wheels with white pinstripes, green 'GT3 RS' graphics on the doors, and white pinstripe rings on the headlights. The side plates on the spoiler are also painted white, with green 'RS' designations on each side. The red shade on the taillights has even been removed to emphasize the vehicle's green and white colors. Of course, these colors have also been carried over to the interior, where you'll find the trim panels painted in white, complemented by green contrast stitching.
The GT3 RS is the most potent street-legal 911 ever made, with a naturally-aspirated 4.0 liter six-cylinder engine under the hood. It produces 518 horsepower, and can rev up to 9,000 rpm. The RS rides on a rear-wheel drive setup, using a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This is also the first GT3 RS to offer active aerodynamics.
Would you buy this Tribute to Carrera RS special edition, or is the original Carrera RS 2.7 better?
