While Ford and GM have already shown off their first electric pickups, Ram is keeping quiet with its upcoming EV. Some may think that such a late release will allow the competition to jump ahead and attract more consumers, but Ram actually has a trick up its sleeve with this tactic.
Every new electric pickup, whether it's the Rivian R1T or the GMC Hummer EV, has at least a few fancy perks that no other truck can brag about. The Ford F-150 Lightning has the ability charge your home, the Chevy Silverado EV boasts a removable midgate for expanded storage, and the Rivian R1T is available with a retractable kitchen. So what will make Ram's EV so unique? Just about everything. When a new electrified truck breaks cover, the automaker takes note of every cool feature it has. That way, Ram knows what its competition has to offer and is able to adjust its pickup accordingly.
In order to successfully dominate the electric pickup segment, Ram won't simply focus on innovative features. It understands that range and charging times are also important ingredients. GMC seems to have made this mistake with the Hummer EV, with a mere 329-mile EPA range hiding behind its groundbreaking tech. The company was originally planning for it to have a range of over 350 miles. Ram will also need to correctly cater to the average truck buyer, which is something that most of its competitors don't appear to achieve.
Ram's unnamed electric truck is expected to hit the market in 2024, which even trails behind the Tesla Cybertruck's 2023 release (assuming that it isn't delayed again). This means that Ram will have plenty of time to create a revolutionary truck that unravels its competitors' flaws.
Do you think the electric Ram will prove successful?
