The Kia K900 luxury sedan was a worthy BMW competitor in the US, and it included the bonus of more reliability than most of its competitors. But, the K900 is much more popular in its home market of South Korea, where it is called the K9, and poor advertising and no established luxury marque under Kia led to poor sales in America. As expected, the Kia K900 was discontinued stateside along with the Cadenza large sedan. Both models have been refreshed for 2022 in Asia, though the K900 received a thorough facelift rather than a redesign. The video below features exclusive access to the new K900 and its features at a dealer located south of Seoul.
In the video, the K900's extensive exterior changes are pointed out, including the slimmer headlights replacing the Bentley-like units, a larger grille, and updated lower inlets. Kia's stylish new logo its well on a luxury car, and the curvy design makes it look more unique and premium. The rear features an all-new taillight design, with a light bar spanning across the tailgate, branching into the brake lights. The turning signals take up the rest of the main taillight in an attractive animation that only luxury vehicles obtain.
Inside, a slightly wider touchscreen sits on top of the luxurious dashboard. The infotainment system seems easy to navigate, and the seats and upholstery look very comfortable. Rear passengers can enjoy more luxury out of this Kia with a lavish armrest with a wireless phone charging port and reclining front seats with lounge-like rear seats. The dual rear media systems are operated by a touchpad controller located atop the armrest, and they house ambient lighting options, several exterior cameras, golf, a radio, climate controls, a map, and much more. The new K900 seems even more promising, and though the updates probably wouldn't change the dismal sales, we wish we still had it here in the US.
