The Lexus IS Will Debut On June 15

The current Lexus IS sedan is aging next to its brand new competitors, so Lexus has a redesign planned. It will show itself on June 15th at 7pm EDT. This news also brought us a brief teaser to preview the new sedan.

As we can see from the video, there are sharp new connected taillights that resemble the NX crossover. Another teaser image previews its wider stance.

It won't receive an F performance variant, but will have an IS 500 trim to replace it. The new IS is not coming to Europe, likely because of the strict emission laws that killed off the Ford Focus RS and BMW M2. The interior should get a new infotainment screen and new chassis and suspension to improve handling and performance.

Although rumors spread claiming that the new IS will ride on a brand-new RWD platform with Mazda, Lexus said the new IS will have the same platform that is has been using, so we won't see the IS grow.

The new IS will be a way better competitor to go against its German rivals.
