These Cars Could Be Discontinued In 2021

With the rise of SUV/pickup/crossover sales and EVs taking over the world of ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles, there are many cars being phased out. Countless, sedans, hatchbacks, coupes and convertibles were discontinued in the US last year in favor of SUVs. The same thing will happen again next year, but this time, a few minivans are joining the discontinued bunch (Dodge Grand Caravan).

(1: Jaguar XE

Jaguar is not doing very well right now, and the XE compact sedan isn't helping. Rumors suggest that it, along with the larger XF, could be replaced by a single model.

(2: Mercedes CLS

Mercedes is cutting seven models out of their bloated lineup, and the CLS grand tourer is an almost certain candidate. It doesn't sell well, and goes right up against Mercedes' own AMG GT 4-door.

(3: Fiat 124 Spider

Fiat is to replace its two SUV models, the 500X and 500L, with the new 500XL. But, we haven't heard much about the slow-selling 124 Spider. Is it being discontinued without us knowing?

(4: Chrysler 300

We all know Chrysler needs all the help it can get. Minivans aren't a sturdy source to rely on lately, and the ten year-old 300 sedan is soldiering on in its dying segment. It's a good chance that Chrysler could ditch it after Stellantis comes together.

(5: Ford EcoSport

Right when Ford announced that all of their sedans and hatchbacks were done for, they launched the tiny EcoSport, previously being sold in foreign markets. The competition offers more, so we wouldn't be surprised if Ford axed it.

(6: Nissan Maxima

Nissan, just like Chrysler, Jaguar and Mitsubishi isn't doing so hot, but they are about to fix that with their brand new Rogue, Ariya, Armada, Kicks and Pathfinder, along with a redesigned Frontier pickup and 400Z. The slow-selling Maxima is most likely done.

(7: Ford Edge

Yes, the Ford Edge is apparently on its way to the chopping block, which is a big surprise, since it is a crossover. It is being replaced by either a completely redesigned model, or a totally different crossover (most likely an EV).
