Audi seems to be more serious than Volkswagen when it comes to electric vehicles. Their E-Tron range is growing rapidly, and the Artemis project is well underway. The latest news from the German luxury brand is that their A4 compact sedan and A5 coupe are going to offer electric variants by 2023, with the combustion-engine versions disappearing not so long after.
Audi's CEO doesn't see any purpose in hybrid-electric cars. Instead, he prefers EVs to be our future. The news isn't surprising, with the E-Tron SUV and Sportback, soon to be joined by the E-Tron GT, will also be accompanied by 75 electric models by 2029. That includes the Artemis project, which is an ell-electric, 'highly automated', technologically advanced vehicle slotting below the Q7 family SUV and A8 large sedan. As futuristic as it sounds, it is being unveiled this fall. Production is starting way later in 2024, though.
Back to the next A4 and A5, we expect refreshed styling similar to the Q8 and RS 7, and the electric variants should hit dealers in late 2023 or early 2024. RS variants might not carry on, unless they are electric as well.
