Upcoming Jeep Wagoneer Won't Be The Production Version

On September 3, Jeep is going to reveal their luxurious new Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer SUV. But, it won't be the version going on sale next year. In fact, it's just a preview. This sounds a lot like what happened with the Cadillac Lyriq EV.

The wait, though is getting a bit too long. Rumors of this anticipated SUV have been floating around since 2013. The fact that the production version isn't coming until later is starting to leave the early 2021 release date in doubt. When is the real thing coming? Alongside the Wagoneer Concept will be the new Wrangler 4xe PHEV.

A few details have been uncovered. Back in 2016, a hybrid version was confirmed with a 48-volt system. Also, all-wheel-drive will be standard. The platform will be based on the Ram 1500. The SUV will also use the eTorque 3.6-liter V6, 5.7-liter V8, and 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engines. Independent rear suspension and an eight-speed automatic will also be offered. We can't wait for the concept, as well as the production Wagoneer.
