At the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, Danish hypercar startup Zenvo Automotive unveiled the TSR-S, boasting a 0-62 mph sprint in an astonishing 2.8 seconds. Another groundbreaking model is set to debut next year, with company Chairman and CCO Jens Sverdrup confirming the news to Top Gear.
The new hypercard's design has already been shown to potential buyers, and while its styling is a complete mystery, Zenvo didn't hold back on specs. There will be a hybridized V12 under the hood, which will represent a first for the automaker. Zenvo was initially going to utilize a lowlier V6, but as electrification threatens to kill off ICE-powered vehicles, the company decided to go all out. "Now is our chance. If we’re ever going to do a V12, this is the last chance. And that’s why people are buying these cars."
Zenvo's upcoming hypercar will reportedly offer two distinct variants. The first would have a hybrid setup, using a front-mounted electric motor to allow for four-wheel drive. The other version will be made for track use with increased downforce, while still remaining road-legal. Zenvo anticipates that the model will weigh just 2,800 pounds in its lightest form.
The V12 engine will feature twin electric turbochargers, bringing output to around 1,800 horsepower. This powertrain will be paired with an electric motor, as well as an all-new eight-speed automatic. The next Zenvo will also use a carbon fiber chassis, which could support additional models in the future.
But what exactly would an additional model be? "Not an SUV," said Sverdrup. "It could be on the cards for us to do something like a junior hypercar, that would be a natural next step." The lesser Zenvo could pack a V8 under the hood.
