Acura first announced the return of the ZDX moniker as an electric SUV at last year's Monterey Car Week, and it's using this year's event to reveal that exact model. The automaker has released a teaser showing the EV's face ahead of the big debut, which takes place on August 17.
The teaser doesn't try too hard to hide the ZDX's illuminated front end, which has clear influence from the Precision EV concept that previewed it last year. The overall look doesn't stray too far from Acura's current gas-powered offerings, with thin daytime running lights and a closed-up, illuminated Diamond Pentagon grille. The model shown here appears to be the ZDX Type S, which will be the sportiest of the bunch and sold right alongside the regular ZDX.

While its styling doesn't go to great lengths to stand out from Acura's other offerings, the differences will be in the details. The ZDX will be the first new Acura model to offer Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store, all baked right into the infotainment system. It will also mark the brand's switch to Bang & Olufsen sound systems, a new partnership that will leave behind the current ELS Studio 3D sound systems. And just like its Honda Prologue cousin, the ZDX will be based on the Chevrolet Blazer EV, sharing GM's Ultium platform and dual motor powertrains.
Acura says that both the ZDX and its sportier Type S variant will arrive in early 2024.
