With its flagship plug-in hybrid SUV now entering its second model year, BMW has bestowed some light changes on the XM for the 2024 model year. In order to entice the well to do who can afford this $160,000 BMW––and have chosen not to buy something with, say, a less offensive nose––the automaker has simplified the name of its high-performance Label Red variant, reducing things to just XM Label.
The XM's punchy, 738-hp performance variant first debuted for 2023 as the Label Red, a name highlighted especially by the SUV's obnoxious red exterior detailing. The XM was the first production BMW to wear the Label Red badge, and while BMW planned to expand the new naming system to future M-branded vehicles, it noted that buyers were slow to adopt the name. A BMW spokesperson told Motor1.com that reducing the name to simply "Label" would make things easier to understand for potential customers.
The 2024 XM also has some great discounts on offer, which drop the price by nearly $10,000. Cars Direct first discovered the appealing $9900 loan credit, which is available by either direct financing with BMW or using "Non FS Credit" with another lender. It's worth noting that the 2024 XM begins at $159,995 excluding the discount, while the renamed XM Label will set you back $185,995.
Do you think the slight name change was the right move?
